Pares Basketball, Netball Courts Back in Use After 25 Years, Turner Says

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — Basketball and netball courts in Pares are back in use after 25 years, according to ABLP St. Peter candidate Rawdon Turner, who said the development signals renewed community activity in the area.

“After 25 years, life has returned to the basketball and netball courts in Pares,” Turner said in a public statement.

He described the moment as personal, recalling his own childhood connection to the facility. “I grew up playing on this court, so to see it alive again means more than words can explain,” he said.

Turner also addressed expectations around progress in the constituency, acknowledging that improvements may take time while defending his record. “I will never apologize for working hard for the people of this constituency. Progress may not always come as quickly as I would like, and I may not always be able to keep every promise as fast as I want—but I will always remain determined to serve,” he said.

In remarks that appeared aimed at political opponents, Turner added, “So let them continue running around the country, yapping away, instead of finding meaningful ways to serve the people they want to represent.”

He said he remains focused on delivering for residents. “As for me, I will keep doing the work.”

The statement comes as election campaigning intensifies, with candidates highlighting community developments as part of their outreach efforts.
