The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said it carried out a lethal strike on a vessel in the Caribbean on April 19, killing three men it described as “narco-terrorists” during an operation targeting drug trafficking routes.

According to a statement, the action was conducted by Joint Task Force Southern Spear under the direction of SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan. The military said intelligence indicated the vessel was operated by designated terrorist organizations and was actively engaged in narco-trafficking.

The vessel was reportedly transiting along known drug routes in the Caribbean when it was targeted. SOUTHCOM said the strike resulted in the deaths of three male occupants aboard the vessel.

No U.S. military personnel were injured during the operation, the statement added.

Further details, including the exact location of the strike and the identities of those killed, were not immediately released.

The operation underscores ongoing U.S. efforts to disrupt illicit trafficking networks in the Caribbean, a region long identified as a major transit corridor for narcotics bound for North America.
