Easter is a powerful celebration of life, hope, and renewal, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a victory over death and a testament to God’s love. It is a time when we are called on to do self-examination and to commit to serious repentance.
As we reflect on the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, we are asked to show unconditional love, the kind that offers peace and unity. We are asked to be at a place where Christ wants us to be. We are asked to show mercy and compassion for one another, and even though we might feel the presence of a quiet scream caused by a stronger force for vengeance, we are asked to forgive those who have caused us pain. Because it is the Christ-like thing to do.
As we celebrate the Resurrection, we honour the promise that we, too, shall be raised to new life. Let us reflect on the immense gift of grace and share the hope of this message with all, particularly those in need of comfort, hope, benevolence, and success.
This blessed Easter, as we give ourselves over to the joy and contentment we will know with the coming together of family, friends and community, let us remember the love of Christ and his kindness and sacrifice for humanity. Let us stay safe and look out for each other during this time of celebration.
A Blessed Easter to one and all, especially to the residents of the St. John’s Rural West Constituency. May the love and peace of Christ continue to dwell in us.
Richard S. Lewis
