The UWI Five Islands Campus will host a free public lecture next month examining the geological origins of Antigua and its place in the wider Caribbean, campus officials announced.
The lecture, titled “Geology of Antigua: From Its Setting in the Caribbean to What We Want to Know,” will be delivered by Simon Mitchell, a professor of sedimentary geology at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus.
It is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. AST at the UWI Five Islands Campus cafeteria. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
According to the campus, the presentation will explore how Antigua was formed, its geological relationship to the Caribbean region and areas of scientific inquiry that continue to attract research interest.
The lecture is being presented by the Office of the Campus Principal and is part of ongoing efforts to engage the public on topics of national and regional significance.
Residents unable to attend in person will be able to view the lecture live on Facebook and YouTube via the UWI Five Islands Campus channels.
