The 2026 session of Parliament opens this morning with Governor-General Sir Rodney Williams delivering the Speech from the Throne at 9:30 a.m.

The ceremony will outline the government’s legislative agenda for the new parliamentary year, including key policy measures expected to be introduced in the coming months.

Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant confirmed recently that the session will precede Budget Day on December 4, which will set out the government’s fiscal and development priorities for 2026.

The Speech from the Throne traditionally sets the tone for the legislative year, presenting the government’s plans for social, economic, and infrastructural advancement.
