Antigua and Barbuda’s Director of Education, Clare Browne, has called on students, parents and educators to fully support the 2025 OECS Student Census, describing it as a crucial step toward strengthening education across the region.

Mr Browne said the census offers “a powerful invitation to be heard”, emphasising that the initiative goes well beyond tallying student numbers. Instead, it seeks to capture meaningful insights into how young people “learn, live and thrive” within their school communities.

He noted that the perspectives gathered will help guide policy decisions rooted in equity, quality and inclusivity, ensuring that the education system evolves in direct response to students’ needs.

The census is being administered by trained enumerators, and Mr Browne assured the public that the process is straightforward, confidential and respectful of each student’s individuality.

Urging all students in Antigua and Barbuda to participate “with confidence,” he also appealed to parents and educators to lend their full support.

“Together, we are shaping an education system that truly listens — one that responds to the needs, dreams and voices of every child across the OECS,” Mr Browne said.
