A local musician ignited a spark in a group of young “Summer Detectives” from the D L Learning Centre.

Volunteering his time, Art “Drastic” Phillip taught the younsters about the cultural significance of the iron band in Antigua, and even offered a glimpse into Dominican and Trinidadian music, demonstrating the unifying spirit through shared musical elements, a release said.

To captivate his audience further, he performed a piece from his own song, “Ah Di Iron.”

However, the session wasn’t just about music theory; it was an immersive experience. Drastic also performed his Groovy 2024 release “Part Ah We” that he will be performing in the Party Monarch semi on 20th July at the Antigua Recreation Grounds.

The youngsters were soon prancing to the infectious rhythms of Benna and Soca grooves, truly “Inna di Iron Band.” Their enthusiasm didn’t stop there. They challenged the musician to a playful dip in the pool, leading to a fun-filled afternoon with laughter and photos.

Drastic left an indelible mark on their young minds, not just with music, but with the joy of learning. The knowledge he imparted resonated with the children, as evidenced by their parents’ appreciation, and they even expressed their support for his new release with his son, “No Stress.”
