POLICE STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO CLAIMS REGARDING ALLEGED HUMAN REMAINS OFF PARHAM COAST

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda –

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is aware of a social media post currently circulating that alleges the discovery of human remains underwater approximately three nautical miles east of Parham Dock.

The Police Administration wishes to assure the public that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness and that a full and thorough investigation is actively ongoing.

On Saturday, July 18, the police and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) Coast Guard carried out investigations in the area identified. However, they have not yet been able to establish the precise location where the alleged discovery was made.

The Police and the ABDF Coast Guard continue to work closely together to verify the information received and to accurately identify the reported location. An exercise of this nature requires precise and reliable information to effectively coordinate a comprehensive underwater search operation and ensure that all available resources are utilized efficiently.

The Police are therefore appealing to anyone with useful information that can better assist investigators and the ABDF Coast Guard in identifying the exact location of the alleged discovery to come forward and share that information.

The Police Administration also acknowledges the sensitive nature of these claims, particularly in light of the number of persons who have been reported missing over a period of time, and the many families who continue to await answers and closure regarding the disappearance of their loved ones.

Police Commissioner, Mr. Everton Jeffers, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment, and that of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, to pursue every credible lead and every piece of information that may assist investigators in bringing closure to these ongoing investigations.

The Police Administration thanks the public for its continued cooperation and patience and assures the nation that updates will be provided as soon as verified information becomes available.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913/3914, call 911, or speak with any police officer. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
