    Dr. Zahra Mawusi Lake was named Arranger of the Year at the National Music Awards on Tuesday night, recognizing her contributions to the development of steel pan music in Antigua and Barbuda.

    During the presentation, organizers highlighted Lake’s role in strengthening the local steel pan movement, noting that she led Pandemonium Steel Orchestra to an impressive second-place finish in the National Panorama.

    The ceremony also recognized her academic achievements and advocacy for the art form.

    “Dr. Zahra Mawusi Lake strengthened the steel pan movement in Antigua and Barbuda by leading Pandemonium Steel Orchestra to an impressive second place finish in the National Panorama,” the presenter noted.

    The citation also pointed to Lake’s continued efforts to advance steel pan education through teaching and international advocacy while completing her doctorate in educational leadership.

    The National Music Awards ceremony recognized artists, musicians and industry contributors whose work continues to shape Antigua and Barbuda’s cultural and musical landscape.
