LETTER: Pringle Should Rescue the UPP Before Pretending to Rescue Antigua

    To the Editor,

I listened with interest to the recent remarks made by Opposition Leader Hon. Jamale Pringle during the “De Whole Country Fed Up” protest. His call to “rescue” Antigua and Barbuda might have struck a chord with his supporters, but for many of us watching closely, the irony was hard to miss.

Mr. Pringle speaks of redemption and rescue, yet his own party appears to be in desperate need of saving.

The United Progressive Party (UPP) has been marked by internal fractures, resignations, and public disagreements that raise serious questions about its readiness to govern. If Mr. Pringle wishes to lead a national revival, perhaps he should first address the growing discontent and disunity within his own ranks.

Calls for the public to rally behind the UPP ring hollow when the party itself struggles to present a coherent vision or a united front. Promises of equitable wealth distribution and national reform are meaningless if the vehicle making those promises is veering off course.

It is easy to blame the current administration for the country’s problems, but the Opposition must also be held to a standard of credibility, consistency, and competence. If the UPP is indeed the answer, then let it start by putting its own house in order.

    Yours sincerely,
    _A Concerned Citizen_
