Dear Editor,
Social media is really not my best friend…. I think the Facebooks, Tik Toks, etc etc are just for entertainment.
However, I will admit that there are times while browsing, I do find some interesting & informative posts.
One such post is an interview with Sir Dr. Richard ‘Richie’ Richardson.
As an ardent fan of his, I gave it a listen. The interview was very enlightening & very informative.
Kudos must be given to the interviewer who has created a platform to reach out to some of the unsung heroes in the Gray’s Green community where Richie is from.
The concept of the presentation is unique & very creative.
The interview more or less captured Sir Richie’s life story from his youthful days to present…. I certainly learnt quite a lot.
Sir Richie batted well in the interview. The interviewer tried to extract almost every strand of hair from Sir Richie’ chest but clearly, Sir Richie counteracted and exhibited his experienced.
More of these interviews within the communities should be done. There are too many unsung heroes in the various communities whose contributions have gone unnoticed.
I was overwhelmed when the interviewer asked Richie about the value of having a monument and a billboard of his achievements erected at entrance of Five Islands.
Richie’s response was quite modest but, in my view, it is long overdue.
Those in authority need to avoid being myopic and begin to find additional ways to improve our tourism product.
