The Caribbean Examinations Council is planning to introduce a digital wallet that would allow candidates to store and share their certificates electronically.

CXC Director of Operations Dr. Nicole Manning disclosed the plan during the official release of the May-June 2026 examination results in Anguilla.

The proposed platform would bring students’ CXC qualifications together in a secure digital location, making it easier for them to access and share their credentials with universities, employers and other institutions.

“In the future, we’re going to have a wallet,” Manning said. “Candidates can have all their certificates in their wallet, so you can actually share that.”

No launch date was announced, but Manning indicated that the initiative would be formally introduced in another Caribbean territory in the future.

The digital wallet is expected to cover CXC’s expanding range of academic and vocational qualifications, including CSEC, CAPE, Caribbean Vocational Qualifications, associate degrees, diplomas and statements of competence.

CXC reported increased participation in vocational certification in 2026, with 4,977 candidates registered across 37 occupational areas. That represents an increase from 3,719 candidates across 36 areas in 2025.

Of those pursuing Caribbean Vocational Qualifications this year, 845 received full qualifications, while 985 were awarded statements of competence recognising the occupational skills they had completed.

The proposed wallet forms part of CXC’s broader transition toward digital education and assessment services. The council has also been expanding electronic examinations and developing secure systems through which employers and educational institutions can verify the authenticity of its certificates.

A digital credential system could reduce candidates’ dependence on physical certificates and simplify the process of submitting qualifications when applying for jobs, universities, scholarships and professional opportunities.

CXC has not yet provided details on how candidates would access the wallet, what security protections would be used or whether older certificates would also be available through the platform.
