The Antigua and Barbuda Football Association has expressed support for footballers Jahlane Barzey and Josh Thomas, wishing them a speedy recovery while issuing a strong condemnation of gun violence.

In a message posted by the association, the ABFA said it stands with both players as they recover.

“We stand with you both and wish you strength, healing and a full return to the pitch. Your football family is behind you all the way,” the association said.

The ABFA accompanied its message of support with a “Zero Tolerance for Gun Violence in Antigua & Barbuda” declaration, saying gun violence has devastating consequences for individuals, families and communities.

“Enough is enough!” the association declared. “Let’s choose peace over violence and protect the future of our nation.”

The football body added that Antiguans and Barbudans must work together to build a safer and stronger country.

The statement comes as the football community rallies around Barzey and Thomas, with the association emphasizing both their recovery and the wider need to tackle gun violence.
