United Progressive Party caretaker for All Saints West Harold Lovell says a career fair organized by the constituency branch gave young people an opportunity to explore career paths, acquire practical knowledge and connect with experienced professionals.

In a statement posted on social media following the event, Lovell thanked the presenters, partner organizations, parents, volunteers and community members who contributed to its success.

“Young people in All Saints West had a unique opportunity to explore career pathways, gain practical skills, and connect with experienced professionals,” Lovell wrote.

The event brought together students, jobseekers, educators and industry representatives, with presentations covering accounting, skilled trades, agriculture, agro-processing and culinary arts.

Suzette Roberts introduced participants to careers in accounting, outlining the educational requirements and opportunities available in the public and private sectors. She also highlighted how accounting skills can support business ownership.

Local entrepreneur Miles Codrington delivered a hands-on demonstration involving heavy-duty equipment and shared his experience in business. He highlighted a growing shortage of heavy-duty equipment operators and mechanics and encouraged young people to consider skilled trades as a route to employment and entrepreneurship.

“Grandma Mirie” shared her life story and presented agriculture and agro-processing as viable career and business opportunities.

U.S.-based Antiguan culinary storyteller Chef Murphy also made a presentation on opportunities within the culinary field.

Lovell said the professionals and organizations involved helped create an environment intended to build confidence and expose young people to future possibilities.

“Your presence reminded our youth that they are seen, supported, and capable of achieving greatness,” he wrote.

Lovell also thanked the participants for their enthusiasm, questions and willingness to learn.

“You are the reason we continue this work, and we are proud of every step you take toward your dreams,” he wrote.
