Antigua and Barbuda’s top academic performers were recognized Thursday as the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology celebrated outstanding achievements in the 2025 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations during the 40th National CSEC Awards Ceremony.

The ceremony, held under the theme “Architects of Tomorrow,” brought together students, parents, educators and government officials to honour those who achieved exceptional examination results and regional distinctions.

Leading the list of awardees was Kaylei John-Baptiste of the Baptist Academy of Antigua, who was named the nation’s 2025 CSEC Student of the Year after passing 20 subjects and earning 18 Grade One passes.

Kha-lique Harris of St. Joseph’s Academy secured second place nationally, while Nayima Lewis of the Baptist Academy of Antigua placed third after attaining 16 Grade One passes in 20 subjects.

The ceremony also recognized students who earned places on regional merit lists across a number of subjects. Among them were Asia Roberts of Antigua Girls’ High School, who placed second in the region in English A; Anwar Stilston of St. Joseph’s Academy, who earned first place in Music; and Khaliq Harris, who secured second place in Industrial Technology.

Dozens of students were also presented with Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze awards based on the number of Grade One passes achieved and the subject requirements established by the Ministry of Education.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of Education Clare Brown praised the awardees for their dedication and perseverance and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.

“Your performance in the 2025 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examinations has earned you a place among our nation’s finest scholars,” Brown said.

He reminded students that academic success must be accompanied by integrity and character, noting that the future would be shaped by the choices and contributions they make in the years ahead.

The event marked the 40th anniversary of the National CSEC Awards Programme, which recognizes academic achievement and celebrates the contributions of students, teachers and parents to educational success in Antigua and Barbuda.
