Daniel Skepple became the 12th Antiguan athlete to qualify for the 2024 Carifta Games in Trinidad following a standout performance on the final day of trials.
The Canada-based sprinter clocked 21.54 seconds in the heats—just shy of the qualifying mark of 21.50—but returned with a commanding run of 21.37 seconds to seal his place at what will be his first Carifta Games.
Skepple, who previously represented Antigua and Barbuda at the 2016 CUT Games in Tortola, attended Mary E. Pigott and Antigua Grammar School before relocating to Canada. The Antigua and Barbuda Athletic Association (ABAA) extended congratulations and best wishes to the young athlete.
Meanwhile, Jevon Simon added to his qualifying achievements by meeting the standard in the Under-17 200m with a time of 21.79 seconds, having already secured his spot in the 400m.
